Players don't have to wait until World of Warcraft: Midnight to start enjoying player housing! Patch 11.1 PTR players have uncovered a side quest in the new city of Undermine that lets players get their very own penthouse apartment.
How to Unlock an Apartment in World of Warcraft: The War Within
PTR players have found a side quest located in the new city of Undermine that lets players unlock their very own penthouse apartment, letting both Blizzard and players test private housing before the release of World of Warcraft: Midnight.
In the city of Undermine, players will find a flyer on a For Rent Sign with a quest called Property Devalued. A local apartment complex is looking to hire security in exchange for a free room to rent!
Head to the Barrelbottoms apartment complex and meet Moz, the landlord. One of the tenants, Mama Keara, complains about a local biker gang called the Underriders tearing up the neighborhood and frightening residents, but Moz doesn't seem overly concerned.
While freeing the tenants that the Underriders kidnapped, the player finds a note revealing that Moz is the one who hired the gang to scare the tenants into paying higher rent prices.
After finding the apartment complex trashed, with most residents dead or injured, the player returns to Mama Keara to reveal the truth to her. Finally fed up with being pushed around, Mama Keara asks the player to take the deed to the apartment complex from Moz.
After defeating Moz's bodyguard and taking the deed, we can establish the benevolent Mama Keara as the owner of Barrelbottoms apartments, and she rewards you with your own penthouse apartment! Thankfully, renting an apartment in Undermine isn't realistic, or it would be costing all of our gold every month.
This penthouse apartment in Undermine is a taste of the player housing to come in World of Warcraft: Midnight. The apartment in Undermine comes with its own innkeeper and will likely get additional features if it's a smashing hit during Season 2 of World of Warcraft: The War Within.
More Features in the New City of Undermine
In patch 11.1.0 of The War Within, players will be able to venture into the underground goblin city of Undermine. This new season of The War Within will follow the conflicts between 4 Cartels in Undermine - The Steamwheedle Cartel, the Blackwater Raiders, the Bilgewater Cartel, and the Venture Company.
Players will farm renown in Undermine by completing their weekly tasks at the Incontinental Hotel. The Concierge, Honored Employee, and Transaction Terminal - aka C.H.E.T.T., will give players weekly tasks around the hotel.
Since players can unlock Cartel Pieces - similar to Dinars - by farming renown in Season 2, these weekly quests will be essential for completing high-level content like Keystone Master and mythic raid.
Similar to the separate Nerubian factions in Azj-Kahet, players will be able to align themselves individually with one of the goblin Cartels. Earning renown with the separate Cartels will reward players with unique cosmetics and a new vehicle.
The D.R.I.V.E. ground mount is Season 2's version of the Delver's Dirigible. The D.R.I.V.E ground mount will be completely customizable and will likely have unique skins as rewards for completing difficult events or maxing out renown with a certain Cartel.
The D.R.I.V.E. mount also introduces the ability to drift and accelerate in a ground-only mount. The D.R.I.V.E. mount will have its' own version of the Dragon-riding races, featuring complex dirt tracks fit for drag racing.
Blizzard also announced a new dungeon called Operation: Flood Gate that will be part of the Season 2 Mythic+ Dungeon Pool.
The new Liberation of Undermine raid is an 8-boss raid that includes a slot machine boss, a two-headed goblin henchman that gets his own bloodlust and ending with the Chrome King Gallywix.
In Season 2, there will also be 2 brand new Delves for players to experience, as well as new curios for Brann Bronzebeard.
There will also be a new PvP arena map inspired by the city of Undermine.
Players Housing in World of Warcraft: Midnight
Although no official announcement has been made, Blizzard teased World of Warcraft players with the trailer below hinting at unique player housing in the next expansion - World of Warcraft: Midnight.
In their 2025-2026 road map, Blizzard revealed that World of Warcraft: Midnight will be releasing out next Summer - August 2025.
This release date coincides with Blizzard's plan to release the Worldsoul Saga in 3 years. but that means The War Within will have only 2 raids and 2 Mythic+ seasons before the next game comes out, and it will likely be the same for Midnight.
With these games costing even more than Dragonflight, do you think players are getting their money's worth?
