Today, November 13th, is the Warcraft 30th Anniversary Direct, and so far, Blizzard has given players a roadmap through the end of 2025 and beginning of 2026 outlining their plans for Classic WoW.
Blizzard has announced the end of Season of Discovery, new 20th Anniversary Classic WoW servers, and confirmed that Mists of Pandaria will be coming after Cataclysm Classic concludes.
Blizzard also announced when the next expansion - World of Warcraft: Midnight - will be releasing. WoW Midnight has a release date in late Summer 2025.
To coincide with the 20th Anniversary of World of Warcraft, Blizzard is releasing fresh Classic and Classic Hardcore servers on November 21st. All Classic players will be starting over at level 1 on fresh servers, with the first raids (Molten Core and Onyxia) being released a couple week afterwards.
WoW Classic 20th Anniversary servers will be progression servers - with a fresh Burning Crusade Classic planned for early 2026. The phase releases for fresh WoW Classic servers are predicted to be:
Molten Core, Onyxia, Maraudon in early Winter 2024
Dire Maul, Azuregos, Kazzak, Honor System, PvP in late Winter 2024
Blackwing Lair, Darkmoon Faire, Alterac Valley, Warsong Gulch in Spring 2025
Zul'Gurub, Arathi Basin, Green Dragons in Summer 2025
AQ War Efforts, AQ Raids, Tier 0.5, Loot Revamp in Early Autumn 2025
Naxxramas, Scourge Invasion, World PvP in Silithus in Late Autumn 2025
Burning Crusage Classic - Winter 2025
The roadmap provided today at the Warcraft Direct also confirms an end to Season of Discovery - a fun alternative classic server very similar to the private server Project Ascension. Based on the roadmap, Season of Discovery will be finished by Spring 2025.
By summer of 2025, players will be able to lighten the blow of losing Season of Discovery with the return of Mists of Pandaria. MoP Remix - a for-fun game option in between Dragonflight and The War Within - turned out to be wildly popular, and Mists of Pandaria Classic is coming back in full force.
Mists of Pandaria Classic will obviously be more fully-fledged out than MoP Remix, with the complete return of the true Classic leveling experience, dungeons, and Classic raiding.
In 2025, World of Warcraft players can look forward to reliving Mists of Pandaria, new progression servers heading towards the Burning Crusade, and Season 2 of The War Within.
The World of Warcraft: Midnight release date of August 2025 means that The War Within will only last one year - with only two raids and two Mythic+ seasons planned.
What are you looking forward to most on the 2025 road map? Do you think Shadowlands Classic could be coming in 2026?
