Harmonized Silk in The War Within is used to craft tier pieces in the Matrix Catalyst. Every other week, players will get a catalyst charge to transform a piece of dungeon or raid loot into a tier piece. Here's how you get Harmonized Silk in World of Warcraft: The War Within - and the benefits of using the catalyst.
The Matrix Catalyst is a returning system in the World of Warcraft: The War Within expansion. The Matrix Catalyst allows players to craft tier set pieces using dungeon or raid loot, and players automatically gain a charge every other week.
Starting on September 10th, players receive a charge of Harmonized Silk every other week in The War Within. This every other week system was implemented in Season 3 of Dragonflight, and Blizzard has an in-game timer if players lose track of what week it is.
Players will find the Matrix Catalyst in Dornogol at /way 50.02, 54.23, along with an Earthen NPC named Custodian Khobun.
Using the Matrix Catalyst comes with a few limitations:
Only gear that is Veteran-level or higher can be transformed using the catalyst
Players must have a Harmonized Silk charge
The piece of gear cannot be a crafted piece of gear
Putting a piece of gear into the Matrix Catalyst also removes any enchantments that are on it. But these pieces will retain any sockets and tertiary bonuses like Speed and Avoidance.
Catalyst charges cap out at 8, meaning players will need to use a charge at least once every couple of months in order to avoid that. But players will want to use the Harmonized Silk charges as often as they come to get their 2-piece, and 4-piece tier set bonuses.
Players can save loot from dungeons and raid to turn into tier pieces using the catalyst every other week. Thankfully, these 8 charges are specific to every character, meaning players don't have to worry about sharing them between characters. If you get a Veteran, Champion, or Heroic piece of loot from a dungeon, you can save it to put in the catalyst when you have a charge of Harmonized Silk.
Players should prioritize catalyzing these pieces: Helms, shoulders, chests, gloves, and legs. Players just need 4 out of the 5 catalyzed in order to get their tier set bonus. Later in the season, players can use their extra charges to catalyze final pieces to get the entire appearance.
Players can put these pieces into the catalyst to complete their unique tier set appearance: Bracers, belts, boots, and cloaks. These items are strictly for appearance and will not give the tier set bonus.
Harmonized Silk in the name of the catalyst charge in The War Within, following the Nerubian theme of Nerub'ar Palace. Players don't need to talk to anyone or complete a quest to start getting Harmonized Silk charges. Simply walk up to the Matrix Catalyst in Dornogol and click on it to both see the number of charges you have and put a piece of gear in the catalyst.
