Season 2 of World of Warcraft: The War Within is releasing on March 4th, 2025, and Patch 11.1 is finally adding rewards for players that want to push past 2500 io. Players can now earn the Keystone Legend achievement at 3000 io, earning a unique mount and unlocking keys that won't deplete if you don't time them.
Only about 5% of max level characters reach 2850 rating in Mythic+ every season, meaning 3000 io might seem out of your reach. Here are some easy ways to farm gear early in Season 2 of The War Within so you can start doing higher keys sooner:
How to Get Keystone Legend
In previous patches, the highest Mythic+ rating that gave players rewards was 2500, granting players the achievement Keystone Hero and a particle effect on their transmog. After 2500 io, the only benchmark players could reach for is earning the Mythic+ title, achieved by having the highest rating in your region.
Only a few hundred players per region earn this reward every season, making it incredibly difficult. Players that earn title generally having a Mythic+ rating around 3400. The gap between 2500 and 3400 has little for players to specifically aim for.
Thankfully, Blizzard has added Keystone Legend for players that attain 3000 rating in Mythic+. This is the equivalent of completing all 8 dungeons on a +12.
Players that earn the achievement The War Within Keystone Legend: Season Two will earn an exclusive mount, the Enterprising Shreddertank, and unlock keys that will not deplete if you overtime them. Players that earn this achievement will not need to worry about their keystone dropping below a 12 for the entire season.
Here are all of the Mythic+ achievements:
The War Within Keystone Explorer - Complete a Mythic keystone dungeon within the time limit
The War Within Keystone Conqueror - Attain a Mythic+ rating of at least 1500 (rewarded with "the Enterprising" title.
The War Within Keystone Master - Attain a Mythic+ rating of at least 2000 (rewarded with the Crimson Shreddertank mount and a Feat of Strength catalyst charge)
The War Within Keystone Hero - Attain a Mythic+ rating of at least 2500
The War Within Keystone Legend - Attain a Mythic+ rating of at least 3000 (rewarded with the Enterprising Shreddertank and No Deplete keys)
Enterprising Hero - End Season 1 of Mythic+ in the top 0.1% in your region (rewarded with the Enterprising Hero title)
Players also receive a permanent dungeon teleport for any dungeons timed on a Level 10 Mythic keystone.
Finally, here are some tips to get your tier set quickly and start doing more damage (or healing) in keys:
Fill Up the Great Vault Every Week
Players can fill up the Great Vault in Dornogol every week by completing different activities. To completely fill the 9 slots in the Great Vault, players need to defeat 6 raid bosses, complete 8 dungeons, and complete 8 delves or other world content.
Every Tuesday, the Great Vault opens and players can choose 1 of the 9 rewards in there. The Great Vault is essential for getting your 4-piece tier set quickly and getting rare rings and trinkets from raid.
Even if the only raid difficulty you can do is Looking for Raid, you should complete the raid every week to fill up the Great Vault. Early in Season 2, everyone's first priority is getting their 4-piece tier set. Usually taking a lower item-level tier piece is a greater DPS increase than using a higher item-level item.
Players should also make sure to complete all 8 delves to unlock the last row of items in the Great Vault - these slots can also drop tier set pieces.
Complete a Feat of Strength for a Catalyst Charge
Historically, players have been able to get a free piece of Hero-track gear from completing a feat of strength during the season. Blizzard is changing this in The War Within Season 2.
Instead of completing 1 Feat of Strength for a free piece of gear, players will instead earn an extra catalyst charge. Players can earn this extra catalyst charge by completing one of these feats of strength:
Attain a Mythic+ rating of 2000 (see How to Get Keystone Master in The War Within)
Attain a 1600 rating in rated PvP
Defeat the final raid boss on Heroic difficulty
Catalyst charges are used to turn an item into a tier set piece, allowing players to get their 4-piece tier set quicker.
Complete Delves for Delver's Bounty Maps
The elusive Delver's Bounty maps are thankfully getting a buff going into Season 2 of The War Within. Players complained that the RNG aspect of maps were unfair, and some people never saw one the entire season.
Delver's Bounty maps have a chance to drop after completing a delve, guaranteeing a piece of Hero-track loot from your next delve. Getting Hero-track loot in the first few weeks of a new season is a huge advantage.
Going into Patch 11.1, Delver's Bounty maps will have a higher chance to drop after each consecutive delve. Also, players will be capped to 1 map per week, meaning no one will have a lucky unfair advantage.
Use Dinars to Buy Raid Gear
Blizzard is bringing back Dinars in The War Within Season 2, allowing players to purchase powerful pieces of raid gear. In earlier expansions, players could farm a currency by completing the raid to get the Dinar tokens.
In The War Within Season 2, players will have to farm renown with the Gallagio Loyalty Rewards Club to get the free pieces of gear.
Players will unlock the two Dinars at Renown level 17 and Renown level 19. This option is great for players that are struggling to complete harder content like high keys but have no problem doing their daily and weekly quests to farm renown.
Use Raidbots to Pick the Right Gear
If you're unsure which pieces of gear in your bag will give you the maximum DPS or healing output, use a sim website like Raidbots. Raidbots allows you to input all your information, including what's sitting in your Great Vault, and tells you what pieces of gear will give you the best results.
You can use Raidbots for everything from picking pieces from the Great Vault to deciding what gems, flasks, embellishments, and enchants to use.
Play a Meta Class
To get Keystone Legend, players should also consider choosing a class that's high on the tier list. With only 5% of players on average getting the achievement, sometimes it's not possible to play any class that you want.
Although it's always easier to get Mythic+ achievements like KSM and KSL if you have a set group, it is easier to pug into keys if you're playing a high-performing class. If you think you're being gatekept from high keys because of your class, check the current tier lists and see where you are.
For example, I play a Warlock, and only 1 Warlock in the Americas got the Mythic+ title in Season 4 of Dragonflight. In contrast, over 100 Shadow Priests attained the title.
When pushing high-level content in Mythic+, some classes will just perform better than others depending on that season's tier set and class changes.
If you want to be in the 5% of players that get the Keystone Master achievement, it's important to pick the right class, read the dungeon guides, and use all the tools available in The War Within to gear your character!
