The Fastest Way to Get Keystone Master in WoW: The War Within Season 2

Updated: 5 days ago

There are even more changes coming to Mythic+ in The War Within Season 2. Season 2 of Mythic+ brings a new mount, new titles, and new changes to keys. Changes to delves will allow players to craft gear faster and do more damage in keys.

Blizzard offers players a ton of resources to craft gear - including delves, world events, and new renown dinar tokens. Players can collect these gear pieces and farm crests to craft gear to use in higher level Mythic+ keys and Heroic and Mythic raid.

Here are all of the ways you can farm gear quickly to get the Keystone Master achievement:

Season 2 of Mythic+ starts in late February 2025, and Blizzard is already revealing new changes to Season 2. Season 2 of World of Warcraft: The War Within introduces a new achievement Keystone Legend, the ability to earn more catalyst charges, and the ability to farm Gilded Crests from delves.

Players can quickly farm higher level gear to use in keys by:

  • Completing feats of strength for catalyst charges

  • Completing delves for Gilded Crests

  • Get your 4-piece tier set as fast as possible

  • Filling up the Great Vault every week

  • Prioritize higher keys in easier dungeons

  • Play a class higher on the tier list

  • Read the dungeon guides

  • Farm the new renown-bound Dinar tokens

Mythic+ Titles and Rewards

Every season, players can earn several titles and an exclusive mount. Here are the titles and rewards players can obtain by doing Mythic+ in Season 2:

The War Within Keystone Explorer - Complete a Mythic keystone dungeon within the time limit

The War Within Keystone Conqueror - Attain a Mythic+ rating of at least 1500 (rewarded with "the Enterprising" title.

The War Within Keystone Master - Attain a Mythic+ rating of at least 2000 (rewarded with the Crimson Shreddertank mount and a Feat of Strength catalyst charge)

The War Within Keystone Hero - Attain a Mythic+ rating of at least 2500

The War Within Keystone Legend - Attain a Mythic+ rating of at least 2850 (rewarded with No Deplete keys)

Enterprising Hero - End Season 1 of Mythic+ in the top 0.1% in your region (rewarded with the Enterprising Hero title)

Unlike previous expansions where the KSM mounts were always recolors of the same mount, we are getting an entirely new mount in Season 2 of The War Within! Instead of getting a recolor of the Mechsuit, players will receive the Crimson Shreddertank for obtaining a Mythic+ rating of at least 2000.

Players also receive a permanent dungeon teleport for any dungeons timed on a Level 10 Mythic keystone.

Historically, about 25% of max-level characters get the Keystone Master achievement each season. With the new level scaling introduced in Season 4 of Dragonflight, and even more changes and new affixes introduced in The War Within, the percentage might even decrease.

Complete a Feat of Strength for a Catalyst Charge

Historically, players have been able to get a free piece of Hero-track gear from completing a feat of strength during the season. Blizzard is changing this in The War Within Season 2.

Instead of completing 1 Feat of Strength for a free piece of gear, players will instead earn an extra catalyst charge. Players can earn this extra catalyst charge by completing one of these feats of strength:

  • Attain a Mythic+ rating of 2000

  • Attain a 1600 rating in rated PvP

  • Defeat the final raid boss on Heroic difficulty

If you're struggling to reach KSM, try completing one of the other feats of strength to earn a free catalyst charge to try and complete your tier set.

Complete Delves

Early in the season, players should complete delves both to fill up the Great Vault and to farm crests. In Season 1, Blizzard allowed pieces of tier to drop from the Delve/World Event slots in the Great Vault, giving players incentive to do the new scenarios.

In Season 2, Blizzard is also allowing Gilded Crests to drop from Delves. Gilded Crests are the highest-level crest that players can use to craft gear. Gilded Undermine Crests will drop from the Delve's Gilded Stash on Tier 11 Delves and from the Delver's Bounty of Tier 8 and up.

Use Dinars to Buy Raid Gear

Blizzard is bringing back Dinars in The War Within Season 2, allowing players to purchase powerful pieces of raid gear. In earlier expansions, players could farm a currency by completing the raid to get the Dinar tokens.

In The War Within Season 2, players will have to farm renown with the Gallagio Loyalty Rewards Club to get the free pieces of gear.

Players will unlock the two Dinars at Renown level 17 and Renown level 19. This option is great for players that are struggling to complete harder content like high keys but have no problem doing their daily and weekly quests to farm renown.

Read the Dungeon Guides

Keys aren't free anymore. Even in +2 and +3 keys, groups can wipe if the mechanics aren't followed correctly.

To get Keystone Master, players will have to time all 8 Season 1 dungeons on a +7. While some dungeons are easier than other, it's possible to also get KSM with a +8 on an easier key and a +5 on a more difficult key.

Each increase in key level adds a modifier to enemy health and damage. For example, a +7 Mythic key will give all enemies a +77% damage and health buff.

To get the Keystone Master achievement, players might want to prioritize the easier dungeons in this rotation. The 8 dungeons in Season 2 are: Cinderbrew Meadery, Darkflame Cleft, The Rookery, Priory of the Sacred Flame, The MOTHERLODE!!!, Theater of Pain, Operation: Mechagon: Workshop, and an all-new dungeon called Operation: Floodgate.

If players want to get Keystone Master within the first few weeks of the season, they should prioritize easier dungeons like The Rookery and Priory of the Sacred Flame. These dungeons have fewer bosses than the returning dungeons and will be easier to do earlier in the season with less Great Vault and raid gear.

Eventually, players will have to learn the mechanics for every dungeon to get Keystone Master and Keystone Hero. Even in low keys, mechanic-heavy keys like the Necrotic Wake will keep players from getting achievements.

Play a Meta Class

To get Keystone Master, players should also consider choosing a class that's meta. With only 25% of players on average getting the achievement, sometimes it's not possible to play any class that you want.

Although it's always easier to get Mythic+ achievements like KSM if you have a set group, it is easier to pug into keys if you're playing a high-performing class.

If you've picked a class to play, read dungeon guides, and started running low keys, it's also beneficial to use the delves and weekly quests to gear your character. Running Bountiful Delves and fishing for Delver's Bounty maps will help gear your character in Champion and Heroic-level gear. Crafting gear and utilizing the catalyst can help your character benefit from tier-set buffs.

If you want to be in the 25% of players that get the Keystone Master achievement, or the 9% of players that get the Keystone Hero achievement in the War Within, it's important to pick the right class, read up on mechanics, and use all the tools available in The War Within to gear you character!
