Delves are new scenario-like mini dungeons available in World of Warcraft: The War Within. There are now 2 new Delves to experience in Patch 11.1 Undermine(d): Sidestreet Sluice and Excavation Site 9, as well as a new Nemesis boss and new rewards. Each delve also has new several story variations, with nearly 50 unique stories for players to experience during the expansion.

With a party of 1-4 people, players can decide what difficulty they want to try the mini dungeon on and enter. Delves have Tiers 1 to 11, each with their own tier of rewards, starting at 610 for Tier 1 up to 639 in Tier 11.

If you're someone that already enjoys high Mythic+ keys, delves are going to seem really easy. If you're a raider who hasn't yet opened the Pandora's Box of Mythic+, Delves are a nice scenario to ease players into harder dungeons.

Why You Should Boost Delves in The War Within

Either way, Delves are important to do at the beginning of seasons because A.) You have a chance to get a Delver's Bounty map and get a free piece of Heroic-level gear every week, and B.) Delve slots in the Great Vault have a chance to drop tier set pieces.

Blizzard has also added a third reason to farm Delves in Season 2 of The War Within: Delves: Tier 11 Delves will now drop up to 21 Gilded Crests per week.

Looting a Delver's Bounty map on a tier 8 delve will give you a Heroic piece of loot in your next Bountiful Delve.

How to Boost Delves in The War Within

Each delve story will have two or three objectives to complete before opening the treasure room. All you have to do is complete the objectives with less than 5 deaths in the party to complete the delve and unlock the next Tier.

On March 5th, all delve difficulties unlocked in World of Warcraft: The War Within. Delves level 7 to 11 unlock Hero track loot in the Great Vault, powerful items that will help players get ahead of the curve in raid or Mythic+.

If players do level 8 delves, they can skip a couple of the upgrade levels that consume valorstones. If you're feeling up to increasing the difficulty a little bit, you can unlock Hero track gear in the Great Vault and open chests with item level 652 loot!

PSA: Delve tiers are account bound, and you should NOT boost your delve tiers on your main character. Here's why:

Bountiful Delves on any difficulty have a 4% chance to drop a Delver's Bounty treasure map, guaranteeing a piece of powerful loot in the next delve. If you get a treasure map on a Tier 8 delve, you will get a piece of Hero track gear in your next Tier 8 delve!

The treasure maps drop with the same difficulty as the delve you're currently in. If you get a treasure map in the Tier 6 delve, the reward will be Tier 6. Save your treasure map luck for your main character when you're doing difficult delves!

Changes to Delves in Patch 11.1 Undermine(d)

The chance to loot a Delver's Bounty map has been increased and increases every delve you do during the week. But Delver's Bounty maps are capped at 1 per week. Make sure you do 8's so you can get a Heroic track piece of gear!

Delvers get a new mode of transportation and a new rare skin to get for it. In the beginning of the season, players will receive the Delver's Gob-Trotter to ride in Goblin style. Players that defeat the new Nemesis The Underpin on ?? difficulty will receive special gold plating for it!

Instead of one delve per zone being Bountiful each day, all the delves in the continent will rotate before there is a duplicate Bountiful delve. Almost all delves have a new goblin-themed scenario, new powers, and new mechanics.

Brann Bronzebeard's level cap has been increased from 60-80. Players that didn't max out his rank in Season 1 will notice a catchup mechanic to quickly get him to 60. Brann also has a Tank spec to help keep us alive in delves!

Tier 9, 10, and 11 delves also offer more rewards. These tiers will drop more Runed Crests each tier, and tier 11 Bountiful Delves will drop Gilded Crests up to 3 times per week. The Gilded Stash has 7 Gilded Crests in it, and players can loot one 3 times per week as long as they complete the Tier 11 delve with lives remaining.

New Delves in Season 2: Excavation Site 9 and Sidestreet Sluice

Excavation Site 9 Delve Guide:

Excavation Site 9 is the first new Delve added in Patch 11.1 Undermine(d). The delve entrance is located in the very Southeast of the Ringing Deeps in the mining area where we started the new campaign quests.

This new delve has three story variations:

  • Lost Excavators - Wake up Assessor McGravy, Kill monsters and rescue goblins, and defeat Xel'anegh the Many

  • Rowdy Rifts - Investigate the portal, close dark tears and kill monsters, find the remote teleporter, and defeat Harbinger Ul'thul

  • Black Blood Profits - Talk to Craggle Fritzbrains, deploy and defend extractors, pick up profitable sludge, regroup with Craggle, and defeat Craggle Fritzbrains

The Lost Excavators story variation is definitely the easiest scenario to boost delves with as it only has 3 quests.

Sidestreet Sluice Delve Guide:

Sidestreet Sluice is the other new Delve, and is located in the city of Undermine. The entrance to Sidestreet Sluice is just west of the Incontintental Hotel.

This delve also has three story variations, and completing all three will earn you the Sidestreet Sluice Stories achievement:

  • All That Glitters - Destroy enchanted gold piles, use teleporters to get around obstacles, defeat Golden Shaman, defeat the Gold Elemental

  • Teleporter Tantrums - Find stolen goods and kill enemies, use teleporters to get around obstacles, find the Remote Teleporter, defeat Geargrave

  • Mr. DELVER - Activate Mr. Delver, rescue imprisoned goblins, and defeat Vindle Snapcrank.

Mr. DELVER is likely the easiest and fastest delve to boost in Sidestreet Sluice since it only has 3 objectives, and you don't have to use the teleporters.

Although all delve stories are fairly simple - rescuing miners, collecting repair kits, killing a boss with little mechanics - some delves are faster than others. Here are the fastest and easiest delves to complete in The War Within to boost your character from Tier 3 to Tier 8.

Thankfully, boosting your tiers in one delve is account bound for all your characters AND unlocks higher tiers for all other delves in the continent. You can pick from one of these easy delves below to easily boost your character to Tier 8 in less than an hour:

The Fastest Delves to Boost Tier Levels in The War Within:

The Sinkhole Stories - Lurking Terror:

The Sinkhole is an underwater delve in Hallowfall. The entire delve is underwater, and you are at risk of drowning. There are bubble pockets scattered throughout the delve that refill your breath bar. Thankfully, you can also use the Noggenfogger Elixir or any form of underwater breathing spell to stay safe.

There are 3 easy objectives in the story variation Lurking Terror - collect 6 repair pouches, click the extra action button to repair the mech suit, and use the mech suit to destroy Kolbyss. There is no final boss in the delve, just destroy 100% of the Kolbyss needed to fill the quest bar. This delve is incredibly easy with no traps or slows, making this the perfect delve to power level your tiers and your friends' tiers.

Fungal Folly - Lost Miners:

Fungal Folly is a mushroom-themed delve just outside of Dornogol. Lost Miners is an easy search and rescue mission with only two objectives: rescue lost miners and kill the mushroom boss keeping them captive.

The delve mechanic in Fungal Folly is Sporbits. Sporbits are tiny spores floating around the delve. If you aggro them, they will swell and explode, dealing massive damage. Thankfully, you can easily move out of the radius once they start to swell.

Avoid Sporbits, fight mushroom mobs, and rescue 10 moldy miners before reaching the Delve's final boss, Spinshroom. Spinshroom is a large Fungarian that will spawn mushroom among range DPS, dealing massive damage if touched.

As long as the DPS and healer can avoid mushrooms, this boss will be very easy. After defeating Spinshroom, Brann and your team can open the treasure room.

The Waterworks - Stomping Some Sense

The Waterworks is a delve located in western Ringing Deeps. Kobolds are there disrupting Earthen machinery. The delve mechanic is collecting Purified Air. Similar to the air bubbles in The Sinkhole, collect Purified Air at least once every 2 minutes to avoid getting a debuff. With how easy this Delve is even on higher Tiers, you will probably only need to collect 2 canisters throughout the entire scenario.

There is only one objective in this scenario. Kobolds have stolen gear from the Earthens, and you need to literally stomp some sense into them. Stomp on Kobolds and collect 50 pieces of gear while you make your way to the boss room.

The boss for the Waterworks is Waxface, a large Kobold. All players need to do is avoid the circle for Noxious Gas and avoid Lob Wax - a short cast that does a small amount of damage and leaves a slow on players.

Players can use their Restored Coffer Keys on any bountiful delves Tier 7 or higher to receive Champion level loot! These pieces are perfect to use with Crystallized Essence of Kaja'mite in the Catalyst to create Tier pieces.

Delves offer players in The War Within the chance to get guaranteed loot and unlock high level gear in the Great Vault every week!
