As the end of the year comes closer, developers are releasing their capstone projects for the year. From the highly anticipated Souls-like Black Myth: Wukong to cozy games like Thank Goodness You're Here, there is a new game for everyone in this month's lineup!
REKA is a dark, witchy game that will be releasing in Early Access on Steam in August. The exact date in August hasn't been confirmed yet by the developer. In REKA, play as an apprentice to the fearsome Baba Yaga and decorate your own Baba Yaga house - a witch cottage that moves with you!
The Nine Treasures of Luiyin is a dark souls-like releasing on Steam on August 1st. The story sets the player in a dangerous environment inspired by Chinese folklore, and the player must master quick defense and parry mechanics to fight your way to the nine treasures. Although the indie developer admits that their first project will be a short game compared to larger souls-like titles, this game is a passion project that won't disappoint lovers of the genre.
Fields of Mistria is one of the most highly anticipated cozy game releases of 2024. This Stardew-Valley type farming game is inspired by Sailor Moon, and adds a magic element to the standard farming sim. This nostalgic farming sim is packed with magic, adventures, and cozy 90's graphics. Fields of Mistria releases August 8th on Steam.
Thank Goodness You're Here! is a cozy game releasing on PC, PS5, PS5, and the Nintendo Switch on August 1st. Made by the creators of Untitled Goose Game, explore the British town of Barnsworth and meet tons of quirky characters in this adorable game.
Black Myth: Wukong is the major souls-like release of 2024, with the game releasing on PC and PS5 on August 20th. Inspired by the 16th-century Chinese novel Journey of the West, take control of Sun Wukong in fast-paced combat against demons and monsters.
Concord is a first-person shooter that aims to be a contender to Overwatch and Valorant. To encourage players to choose their shooter over others, the developer promises that all content updates will be at no additional cost after the initial purchase of the $40 game. Concord releases on PC and PS5 on August 23rd.
World of Warcraft: The War Within releases for PC on August 26th. The first expansion in the new Worldsoul Saga Trilogy, the War Within brings new content along with a host of updates to the original game. Blizzard aims to bring in new players with the "Delve" experience, along with a new "story mode" raid and dungeon level for new players interested in learning the extensive lore behind WoW without worrying about game difficulty.
Visions of Mana releases on August 29th for PC, PS5, PS5, and Xbox. It only took 15 years, but Square Enix is finally releasing a new Mana game! Travel to the Tree of Mana to partake in an ancient ritual. Journey across an open world, complete quests, and meet endless characters in this revival of the Mana series.
