Plunderstorm: New Rewards and New Plunder Currency in World of Warcraft

Plunderstorm is returning to World of Warcraft in on January 14th, 2025, bringing new mounts, new toys, and new cosmetics with it.

For this round of Plunderstorm, players will be able to earn points to purchase mounts and cosmetics. Instead of leveling a Battle Pass-style system up to level 40 to earn the Plunderstorm mount, players can now farm just enough currency to buy the items they want.

Here is how to play Plunderstorm, farm the new Plunder currency, and what new mounts and transmogs are available:

Plunderstorm 2025: 5 New Mounts Coming to World of Warcraft

The Plunderstorm Event:

Plunderstorm is a pirate-themed battle royale event that Blizzard debuted in March 2024. In the first Plunderstorm, players received mounts and other rewards through earning experience and advancing to the next level similar to a battle pass.

Plunderstorm is accessed through the title screen for World of Warcraft, and is available as an alternate game mode.

Unlike World of Warcraft, you won't be using your own characters or need to worry about choosing a class. For every Plunderstorm match, you'll be dropped into the arena empty-handed, gathering new spells and items as you defeat enemies and complete small quests.

How to Play Plunderstorm:

• Defeat enemies and creatures around the map to level up

• Gain spells, abilities, and items while leveling up

• All races and players will have a built-in heal ability

• Throughout the game, a storm closes in that will damage any players in it

• Like a battle royale, be the last one standing.

This time, players will be able to earn points to spend at the Plunderstore, with the 2 new mounts, two new pets, and a new ensemble - the Plunderlord's Stormridden Set.

The battle royale is returning to World of Warcraft from January 14th to February 18th, 2025. This will likely serve as the break in between raid tiers and Mythic+ seasons. This means we can guess that the new raid, the Liberation of Undermine, will be releasing Tuesday, February 18th.

The Plunderstore will allow players to save up for specific items that they want. In the first Plunderstorm, players had to max out their character to level 40 to unlock the mount rewards. Players will even be able to trade Plunderstore points for Trader's Tender.

There will be 68 total items players can purchase from the Plunderstore, costing a whopping 70,000 points in total. Plunder will be the currency that the Plunderstore uses, with the player cap being 15,000 plunder at once.

New & Returning Mounts:

The first new mount is the Plunderlord's Midnight Crocolisk, a recolor of the original Plunderstorm mount reward. This dark brown Crocolisk is covered in armor and sparking silver coins. Behind the saddle is a treasure chest surrounded by candles, with swords sticking out from the treasure pile. The mount does have a special effect where the coins sparkle.

Hooktalon is the second new mount coming to Plunderstorm in January. This bright purple giant parrot has a black saddle with purple gems, a black hat with a purple feather, and a hook claw. Hooktalen will also cost 5000 points on the Plunderstore. This mount is a recolor of the Polly Roger mount from the first Plunderstorm event.

Hooktalon

The Royal Seafeather is the first of the returning parrot mounts that players can purchase during January 2025's Plunderstorm event. This blue parrot features a saddle fashioned from a ship wheel - the ship wheel itself made from a skull and bones. The Royal Seafeather will cost 5000 points through the Plunderstore.

Polly Roger is the second giant parrot mount available during the next Plunderstorm event. This regal parrot has a red and gold saddle with green jewels. This true pirate parrot also has a feather cap, a hook for a claw, and a black eye patch. Polly Roger will also cost 5000 points on the Plunderstore.

The Silver Tidestallion is the fourth mount coming to the Plunderstorm event in 2025. This blue and silver seahorse mount will also cost 5000 points on the Plunderstore.

New Pets:

The two new companions available for purchase are Parley and Sparklesnap. Parley is a baby parrot and sparklesnap is a hermit crab decorated with gems. These new pets will cost 2000 Plunder.

New Transmog:

The new Plunderstorm set is the Plunderstorm's Stormridden Set. This set appears to be a recolor of a recent Trading Post transmog.
