Diablo IV's new Spiritborn class has passive abilities that can be changed depending on a player's secondary Guardian Spirit. This guide covers the different kinds of passive skills, and how to use Incarnate Skills in Diablo IV: Vessel of Hatred.
The Spiritborn is a new Diablo IV class introduced with the recent expansion Vessel of Hatred. This new expansion brought new big cat mounts, World of Warcraft inspired armor sets, and the entirely new Spiritborn class.
The Spiritborn class can be most easily compared to the Monk in Diablo III. The Spiritborn is a melee class with changing abilities. Players can use the Spirit Hall to designate two Spirit Guardians - one as Primary and one as Secondary.
Different Kinds of Passives in Diablo IV
A player's primary Spirit Guardian affects what core abilities the Spiritborn character will have, whereas the secondary Spirit Guardian defines what passive abilities the character will have. Players can choose any two of the Spirit Guardians, giving players the ability to make a ton of different builds and combinations.
The Spiritborn has 35 potential passive skills, and not all of those passive skills are built the same. Passive skills will always remain active after they are learned. Here are the different kinds of passive skills in Diablo IV:
Incarnate - A passive skill that can be activated to provide a temporary buff
Vigorous - A passive skill that gives 5% resource regeneration after using a core skill
Key - A passive skill taken at the bottom of the skill tree that defines a build
Incarnate skills are not-so-passive passive skills that can be activated to provide a temporary buff. There are 4 (potentially 5) skills that can be used as Diablo IV Incarnate skills. Below is a breakdown of each skill and what they do.
Diablo IV Incarnate Skills
There are 4 primary Incarnate passive skills in Diablo IV: Vessel of Hatred that can be activated to give players a short buff:
Armored Hide is a Gorilla passive that gives players 1 Resolve every 5 seconds. It can be used as an Incarnate passive every 25 seconds:
Active: Encase yourself, becoming Unstoppable and gaining 100%[+] Block Chance for 3 seconds.
Counterattack is a Jaguar passive ability that grants players 10% dodge chance, and retaliates against Close enemies for 80% damage when the player dodges successfully. This Incarnate skill has 2 charges with a 20 second cooldown:
Active: Dodge all direct attacks for 3 seconds per cast, up to 6 seconds.
Ravager is another Jaguar passive skill that increases a player's Minimum Ferocity by 2. Ravager's active Incarnate skill has a 25 second cooldown:
Active: Unleash a savage roar, causing each of your attacks to trigger an additional 40% damage strike per enemy for 6 seconds.
Toxic Skin is a Centipede passive skill that poisons enemies. Enemies that attack the player are poisoned for 30% over 3 seconds. Toxic Skin's Incarnate skill can be used every 15 seconds:
Active: Your toxins overflow, applying the Poisoning in a trail and making you Unhindered for 5.0 seconds.
Razor Wings is an Eagle skill that can be used as an Incarnate passive skill when players also have the Aspect of Deflection. Razor Wings is an Eagle Skill that has 3 charges allowing players to cast clusters of sharp feathers that rebound back, dealing 50% damage each way.
When players combine Razor Wings with Counterattack and the Aspect of Deflection, Razor Wings will launch automatically as a counter attack, turning it into a passive skill. This Razor Wings build is recommended right now as a dynamic and powerful playstyle.
Incarnate skills are powerful passives that also have an active effect with a cooldown. Consider trying the Razor Wings build or creating your own build using an Incarnate passive skill in Diablo IV!
