The Spirit of Eche'ro is a rare Legion archaeology mount that's only available for 4 weeks out of the year. Read this complete guide on how to obtain this rare spectral moose mount.
Spirit of Eche'ro 2025 Dates: February 5-19th, 2025, and August 6-20th, 2025.
The Spirit of Eche'ro is a rare spectral moose mount that's obtained by completing an archaeology quest called Laying to Rest. This archaeology quest is only up for two weeks every 6 months. In 2025, the Laying to Rest quest will be available from February 5th to February 19th, and from August 6th to August 20th.
To complete this quest, players will need to farm 600 bone fragments and return them to Lessah Moonwater, who will perform a burial ritual. You'll then be rewarded with the rare mount, Spirit of Eche'ro!
Here's how to pick up the archaeology profession, the quest Laying to Rest, and how to farm out the 600 bone fragments:
Pick up Archaeology in Legion Dalaran
First, players will need to head to Legion Dalaran to pick up the quest The Right Path from Dariness the Learned.
Every account that has completed The War Within campaign should have a toy in their toybox called Dalaran Hearthstone.
If you recall what happened in The War Within campaign, Dalaran was completely destroyed. If you try going there in the current timeline, you'll be met with a gigantic crater. Use the Dalaran Hearthstone to be transported to Legion Dalaran, when the city was still intact.
Open your map and you should see a quest available called The Right Path. Dariness the Learned will give you the archaeology profession if you don't have it already and task you with meeting Lessah Moonwater in Thunder Totem.
Pick up Laying to Rest in Thunder Totem
Laying to Rest is given by Lessah Moonwater in Thunder Totem, tasking players with collecting 600 Bone Fragments of Eche'ro from dig sites around Highmountain.
After accepting the quest from Lessah Moonwater, open your map and you should see several little shovels around the map. These are your archaeology dig sites. Open your professions tab and put the Survey ability on your bars. You'll be pressing this button every few seconds.
You can also get the glove enchant Legion Surveying to cut the cast time of Survey in half. Even without this enchant, this mount farm only takes about 2 hours.
Farm Bone Fragments from Highmountain Dig Sites
After flying to an area on the map with a shovel, stay inside the red zone that indicates you're inside a dig site. Use the survey ability and a small telescope will appear with either a red light, a yellow light, or a green light.
The light color indicates how far away you are from an artifact, and the telescope also points in the direction of the artifact trove.
Follow the telescope's directions. When you're directly over the dig spot, a white light with a shovel will appear over your head. Use the Survey ability again and a pile of Tauren artifacts will appear. Loot the pile for Bone Fragments of Eche'ro and pieces of Tauren artifacts.
When you reach 200 Tauren artifact fragments, you won't be able to loot any more. Open the Archaeology professions tab and combine the artifact fragments. You might as well get some extra Archaeology points while you're farming the mount.
There are multiple spots to dig at each dig site. You'll know when you've exhausted the dig site when an achievement pops up letting you know that you've completed that dig site. I farmed between 25-35 bone fragments per dig site.
From time to time, an Angry Tauren Spirit will spawn when you dig up an artifact trove. Defeat these spirits to earn an extra 15-20 Bone Fragments, speeding up the process.
After exhausting a dig site, fly to the next one and repeat the Surveying process until you collect 600 Bone Fragments of Eche'ro.
Watch the Burial Ritual
After collecting 600 Bone Fragments of Eche'ro, meet Lessah Moonwater at the burial place of Huln Highmountain. Speak to her and she will complete the burial ritual, burying the remains of Huln Highmountain's beloved mount next to him.
After the burial ritual is completed, the spectral steed Spirit of Eche'ro will appear before you. Turn in the quest to collect your new mount!
