The Trial of Chaos in Path of Exile 2 is a gauntlet of encounters similar to the Trial of Sekhemas. Players will choose from a selection of tribulations for each room until they complete three rooms and reach the finally boss.
If you didn't get to ascend using the Trial of Sekhemas, you'll be able to choose your ascendancy and get two ascendancy skill points after completing the Trial of Chaos. Being in Act 3, the Trial of Chaos is significantly harder and requires better gear and a higher level.
However, you may end up thinking the Trial of Chaos is actually easier than the Trial of Sekhemas because there is no Honour bar to worry about. Just stay alive and complete the challenges!

How to Access the Trial of Chaos
The Trial of Chaos is located in the Chimera Wetlands in Act 3. Players will need to defeat Xyclucian the Chimera in the Chimera Wetlands and loot the Chimeral Imbued Ultimatum.
Once players have the Chimeral Imbued Ultimatum, they can use it to enter the Temple of Chaos.
Note: There is currently a bug where players put the Imbued Ultimatum into the Temple Offering and nothing happens. If this happens to you, you're not alone.
The Trial of Chaos can be completed in a party, and only one person needs to have a Chimeral Imbued Ultimatum! If you lose yours or encounter the bug, try joining a party to complete the Trial of Chaos.
Trial of Chaos and Tribulations
The Trial of Chaos is a gauntlet of three rooms and then a boss fight. Upon entering each room, players will choose from a Tribulation to make the encounter harder. If this is the first Trial you're completing, at the end you'll be able to ascend to power and choose your ascendancy class. If you have already ascended, you will only get the horde of treasure at the end.
Similar to the Trial of Sekhemas, each room in the Trial of Chaos will also have a challenge on top of the tribulation such as surviving waves of enemies, destorying pylons or collecting orbs.
The easiest Tribulations to take are:
Blood Globules - Globes of blood periodically appear and fall where you're positioned
Time Paradox - Buffs last shorter and debuffs last longer
Vaal Omnitect - A Vaal construct is in the room attacking you
Here are all of the possible Tribulations during the Trial of Chaos:
Stalking Shade - A shadow follows you throughout the encounter dealing damage if it catches you
Chaotic Monster - Monsters gain 30% extra damage as Chaos Damage
Impending Doom - Rings of Doom appear on the ground and explode once they reach the maximum width
Unstoppable Monsters - Monsters cannot be slowed or stunned
Heart Tethers - Tethers are slowly applied to you and breaking them stuns you
Lessened Reach - 50% less Area of Effect and projectile speed
Monster Speed - Monsters get 25% increased skill speed
Reduced Recovery - 50% reduced life, mana, and shield recovery rate
Enraged Bosses - Bosses deal more damage and take less damage
Petrification Statues - The encounter area contains several statues that petrify you if you get too close
Chaotic Monsters II - Monsters gain 80% more damage dealt as Chaos Damage
Volatile Fiends - Monsters release deadly Volatiles upon death
Drought - Monsters grant no Flask or Charm charges upon death
Stormcaller Runes - Runes appear that cast deadly lightning storms
Blood Globules - Globes of blood periodically appear and fall where you're positioned
Damaged Defenses - 50% less defenses
Burning Turrets - The encounter area contains turrets that fire Fire Projectiles
Time Paradox - Buffs last shorter and debuffs last longer
Damaged Defenses II - No defenses
Deadly Monsters - Monsters always deal critical hits
Toxic Monsters - Monsters always inflict bleed and poison
Entangling Monsters - Monsters inflict Grasping Vines upon hit
Bosses in the Trial of Chaos
There are three possible bosses at the end of the gauntlet, each with a different style of attack:
Xyclucian, the Chimera deals heavy AoE damage and different elemental attacks.
Scourge of the Skies is a massive re-animated bird that deals Earth-based attacks.
Bahlak the Sky Seer is considered the unlucky boss to get. Bahlak is a boss that fires quick ranged attacks. Players can use the terrain to avoid some of the spells.
Rewards from the Trial of Chaos
The Trial of Chaos rewards players for all their hard work, and many players will want to repeat the trial of Chaos multiple times just for the treasure at the end. If this is your first Trial, you will be able to ascend to power and get two Ascendancy Points after the Trial of Chaos.
Whether you ascend here or not, you will get a large amount of treasure including Vaal Orbs and Soul Cores.
Vaal Orbs are chaotic reagents that allow you to corrupt items. Using a Vaal orb on a piece of gear will either make it completely overpowered or completely brick the item. After using a Vaal Orb, a piece of gear cannot be further modified.
Soul Cores are socketable items with unique modifiers you can't get anywhere else. The modifier from the Soul Core is proportional to the item you deposit it in, meaning you may want to save these powerful items for higher level items.
