It's official - player housing is coming to the next World of Warcraft expansion, and it looks to be a well fleshed-out feature that players are going to love. In World of Warcraft: Midnight, players will be able to join public neighborhoods or live next to their guildies, and collect hundreds of decorations to make their player house a home.

Player Housing in WoW: Midnight

This week, Blizzard released their next announcement concerning player housing in World of Warcraft. Blizzard announced that while player housing is a huge undertaking, it will be rooted in three main pillars: boundless self-expression for players, deeply social, and a long-lasting journey.

Players shouldn't expect to "finish" their player house but should expect new customization to unlock with every patch.

Blizzard has also vowed to keep player housing low cost and free of RNG and has promised that player housing in WoW won't include any lotteries or high purchase costs.

Player housing will be tied to your Warband, and Alliance and Horde characters will have no problems sharing the same house. Blizzard has also promised that you'll be able to visit your friends' and guildmates' houses regardless of faction as well.

Will player housing be pay-to-play? Blizzard has addressed the concerns of players that housing will be needlessly expensive and pay-to-play. They've been honest and said that similar to having in-game mounts and in-store mounts, there will be some features that players can unlock completely for free and some that will be available in the in-game store.

Blizzard has committed to giving players "hundreds and hundreds" of player housing decorations with various themes. Does this mean World of Warcraft will be the next cozy game? If you know someone who loves decorating, World of Warcraft Midnight might be the perfect time to introduce them to World of Warcraft.

Will you be my neighbor?

To avoid unnecessary sharding, Blizzard announced that player houses will be organized into 50-plot neighborhoods, and they will be dedicated servers to the players on them. These neighborhoods will be instanced and permanent, letting you live next to your friends for years to come with no worries of being layered away in the middle of decorating.

There will be both public neighborhoods and private neighborhoods - meaning you can choose to live next to your Battlenet friends and guildies, or brave a public neighborhood and makes some new friends!

World of Warcraft: Midnight Release Date

World of Warcraft: Midnight will be the second installment of the Worldsoul Saga - a trilogy of games that Blizzard aims to release in 3 years. So far, players have seen Xal'atath unleash havoc and corruption across the new continent of Khaz Algar.

The 2025-2026 World of Warcraft Road Map shocked players by having World of Warcraft: Midnight in the road map for late Summer 2025.

Since World of Warcraft: The War Within released in August 2024, players can expect World of Warcraft: Midnight to release in August 2025.

Although this is kind of what we expected - at least, it's what Blizzard promised - 3 games in 3 years, a lot of players are still surprised that it's actually going to happen. Squeezing in 3 expansions in 3 years is not only ambitious, it also fundamentally differs from previous expansions.

While previous expansions like Dragonflight had 3-4 raid tiers and 4 Mythic+ seasons, it looks like The War Within is only going to have 2 Raid tiers and 2 Mythic+ seasons. If World of Warcraft: Midnight is another full price expansion, players might start to feel like they're not getting their money's worth.

In today's Warcraft Direct, Blizzard also debuted the next raid tier after Nerub'ar Palace. The next raid is called the Liberation of Undermine, where players will take to the streets of Undermine to free the city.

The only raid boss that's been announced so far is the final boss, former Horder leader Gallywix. Is he being influenced by Xal'atath, or are there other evil forces at work underground?

Based on the road map, it looks like Season 2 of The War Within will be releasing in late Winter 2025, around late January or February. This means that The War Within would have only two raid tiers that are each about 6-7 months long.

The D.R.I.V.E. ground mount is Season 2's version of the Delver's Dirigible. The D.R.I.V.E ground mount will be completely customizable and will likely have unique skins as rewards for completing difficult events or maxing out renown with a certain Cartel. The D.R.I.V.E. mount also introduces the ability to drift and accelerate in a ground-only mount.

Blizzard also announced a new dungeon called Operation: Flood Gate that will be part of the Season 2 Mythic+ Dungeon Pool. In Season 2, there will also be 2 brand new Delves for players to experience, as well as new curios for Brann Bronzebeard. There will also be a new PvP arena map inspired by the city of Undermine.

New World of Warcraft Classic in 2025

In 2025, World of Warcraft players can look forward to reliving Mists of Pandaria, new progression servers heading towards the Burning Crusade, and Season 2 of The War Within.

To coincide with the 20th Anniversary of World of Warcraft, Blizzard is releasing fresh Classic and Classic Hardcore servers on November 21st. All Classic players will be starting over at level 1 on fresh servers, with the first raids (Molten Core and Onyxia) being released a couple week afterwards.

WoW Classic 20th Anniversary servers will be progression servers - with a fresh Burning Crusade Classic planned for early 2026.

By summer of 2025, players will be able to lighten the blow of losing Season of Discovery with the return of Mists of Pandaria. MoP Remix - a for-fun game option in between Dragonflight and The War Within - turned out to be wildly popular, and Mists of Pandaria Classic is coming back in full force.

Mists of Pandaria Classic will obviously be more fully-fledged out than MoP Remix, with the complete return of the true Classic leveling experience, dungeons, and Classic raiding.
