If you've been waiting for bug mounts, this is the expansion for you!
World of Warcraft: The War Within released to some players in early access this past Thursday, and reviews are cautiously positive. I personally was burned by Blizzard after waiting 8 full hours after the launch of Dragonflight to be able to load in, and I wasn't planning on even trying to get into The War Within when it released. To my surprise, The War Within quests launched 5 minutes early, and I didn't get stuck on a single load screen the entire way through the campaign.
If you didn't pay for early access in The War Within, this is your sign to do it for the next expansion.
Between world exploration, renown, raids, dungeons, PVP, and the trading post, The War Within adds 37 new mounts for players to collect. Each of the 4 main factions add 2 mounts as renown rewards. Notably, the Severed Threads faction adds 5 new mounts!
Below are mounts that are sure to be the favorites - followed by a complete list!
First is Season 1's KSM mount: the Diamond Mechsuit. Players will receive this mount as a reward for reaching 2500 rating in Mythic+.
The Forged Gladiator's Fel Bat is Season 1's reward for reaching Gladiator status in PVP. See a complete guide for PVP rewards in The War Within here:
There are two mounts you'll receive just for making characters in The War Within's new race, the Earthen. Recieve the Reins of the Slatestone Ramolith for creating an Earthen and receive the Earthen Ordinant's Ramolith for creating an Earthen Paladin.
Personally, I've been waiting for new elemental mounts to be added to the game. I started playing WoW when Dragonflight released, so I missed the KSM mounts in Shadowlands. This elemental mount, Beledar's Spawn, drops off a rare in Hallowfall:
The other elemental mount in The War Within is the Shackled Shadow. Players unlock this mount upon reaching renown rank 23 with the Hallowfall Arathi.
Siesbarg is a Nerubian mount that's awarded after completing an incredibly grindy quest line. After you manage to loot the Vial of Tka'ktath's Blood off the elite rare, you'll be sent on a quest line that includes collecting 1500 Nerubian Chitin, 1000 Nerubian Venom, and 500 Nerubian blood.
The Soaring Meaderbee is another exploration mount with a much easier grind. All you have to do is collect 900 sizzling cinderpollen from elite bees around the outside of Cinderbrew Meadery. This is the first major bee mount for the horde!
And of course, some of the coolest mounts in the game will drop from raid. The Sureki Skyrazor is a rare mount that drops from the final raid boss, Queen Ansurek, on any difficulty.
Finally, the Reins of the Ascendant Skyrazor drops from Queen Ansurek on mythic difficulty:
