Today, November 13th, is the Warcraft 30th Anniversary Direct, and Blizzard has given players a road map for both World of Warcraft: The War Within and World of Warcraft Classic.
Blizzard also revealed news of the Season 2 raid in The War Within, the return of MoP in the upcoming Mists of Pandaria Classic expansion and even teased some news about the next expansion - World of Warcraft: Midnight.
This guide covers the following news revealed by Blizzard in today's Warcraft Direct:
World of Warcraft: Midnight's release date
New player housing added to World of Warcraft: Midnight
Other new content coming to Season 2 of The War Within
New WoW Classic expansions announced
World of Warcraft: Midnight Release Date
World of Warcraft: Midnight will be the second installment of the Worldsoul Saga - a trilogy of games that Blizzard aims to release in 3 years. So far, players have seen Xal'atath unleash havoc and corruption across the new continent of Khaz Algar.
In Season 2 of The War Within, players will be traveling further underground to the Goblin capital Undermine, where they'll take on countless enemies in the new raid Liberating Undermine. World of Warcraft players will be able to enjoy a new dungeon, new delves, and a new raid featuring former Horde leader Gallywix.
The 2025-2026 World of Warcraft Road Map shocked players by having World of Warcraft: Midnight in the road map for late Summer 2025.
Since World of Warcraft: The War Within released in August 2024, players can expect World of Warcraft: Midnight to release in August 2025.
Although this is kind of what we expected - at least, it's what Blizzard promised - 3 games in 3 years, a lot of players are still surprised that it's actually going to happen. Squeezing in 3 expansions in 3 years is not only ambitious, it also fundamentally differs from previous expansions.
While previous expansions like Dragonflight had 3-4 raid tiers and 4 Mythic+ seasons, it looks like The War Within is only going to have 2 Raid tiers and 2 Mythic+ seasons. If World of Warcraft: Midnight is another full price expansion, players might start to feel like they're not getting their money's worth.
Player Housing in World of Warcraft: Midnight
Although no official announcement has been made, Blizzard teased World of Warcraft players with the trailer below which hints at unique player housing in the next expansion - World of Warcraft: Midnight.
More New Content Coming to World of Warcraft: The War Within
In today's Warcraft Direct, Blizzard also debuted the next raid tier after Nerub'ar Palace. The next raid is called the Liberation of Undermine, where players will take to the streets of Undermine to free the city.
The only raid boss that's been announced so far is the final boss, former Horder leader Gallywix. Is he being influenced by Xal'atath, or are there other evil forces at work underground?
Based on the road map, it looks like Season 2 of The War Within will be releasing in late Winter 2025, around late January or February. This means that The War Within would have only two raid tiers that are each about 6-7 months long.
The D.R.I.V.E. ground mount is Season 2's version of the Delver's Dirigible. The D.R.I.V.E ground mount will be completely customizable and will likely have unique skins as rewards for completing difficult events or maxing out renown with a certain Cartel. The D.R.I.V.E. mount also introduces the ability to drift and accelerate in a ground-only mount.
Blizzard also announced a new dungeon called Operation: Flood Gate that will be part of the Season 2 Mythic+ Dungeon Pool. In Season 2, there will also be 2 brand new Delves for players to experience, as well as new curios for Brann Bronzebeard. There will also be a new PvP arena map inspired by the city of Undermine.
New World of Warcraft Classic in 2025
In 2025, World of Warcraft players can look forward to reliving Mists of Pandaria, new progression servers heading towards the Burning Crusade, and Season 2 of The War Within.
To coincide with the 20th Anniversary of World of Warcraft, Blizzard is releasing fresh Classic and Classic Hardcore servers on November 21st. All Classic players will be starting over at level 1 on fresh servers, with the first raids (Molten Core and Onyxia) being released a couple week afterwards.
WoW Classic 20th Anniversary servers will be progression servers - with a fresh Burning Crusade Classic planned for early 2026.
By summer of 2025, players will be able to lighten the blow of losing Season of Discovery with the return of Mists of Pandaria. MoP Remix - a for-fun game option in between Dragonflight and The War Within - turned out to be wildly popular, and Mists of Pandaria Classic is coming back in full force.
Mists of Pandaria Classic will obviously be more fully-fledged out than MoP Remix, with the complete return of the true Classic leveling experience, dungeons, and Classic raiding.
