It's almost the season for curling up with a book on the front porch, sipping coffee or hot cider. I've seen a ton of Fall TBR lists on Tiktok, Pinterest, and Instagram. I did the groundwork of looking up every book on every Tiktok I saved, and these are the cozy witchy books that made it on my personal to-be-read list!

  • The Undertaking of Hart and Mercy by Megan Bannen. This is the first book I read for spooky season, and it's honestly one of my favorites from the entire year. 5 stars! "A uniquely charming mixture of whimsy and the macabre that completely won me over. If you ever wished for an adult romance that felt like Howl's Moving Castle, THIS IS THAT BOOK." —Helen Hoang, author of The Kiss Quotient

  • The Evernight Series by Claudia Gray. Nothing says Fall more than a teen vampire romance series. I read every book in one sitting!

  • The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches by Sangu Mandanna. I'm halfway through this book right now, and I agree with the review that it's one of the coziest reads for this Fall! “This is one of my coziest reads of the last year, and I find myself thinking about its enchanted setting all the time.” - Emily Henry, #1 New York Times bestselling author.

  • In the Company of Witches by Auralee Wallace. "When a guest dies in the B&B she helps her aunts run, a young witch must rely on some good old-fashioned investigating to clear her aunt's name in this magical and charming new cozy mystery."

  • The Ex Hex by Erin Sterling. This has been on the best-selling Fall books since its release in 2021. If you haven't read it yet, this is the year!

  • The Unfortunate Side Effects of Heartbreak and Magic: A Novel by Breanne Randall. "For fans of Practical Magic and Gilmore Girls, The Unfortunate Side Effects of Heartbreak and Magic is a debut novel that explores the shields we build around our hearts to retain our own magic."

  • How to Sell a Haunted House by Grady Hendrix. "Like his novels The Southern Book Club’s Guide to Slaying Vampires and The Final Girl Support Group, How to Sell a Haunted House is classic Hendrix: equal parts heartfelt and terrifying—a gripping new read from “the horror master” (USA Today)."

  • Cackle by Rachel Harrison. "A darkly funny, frightening novel about a young woman learning how to take what she wants from a witch who may be too good to be true, from the author of The Return."

  • Payback's a Witch by Lana Harper. "Chilling Adventures of Sabrina meets The L Word in this fresh, sizzling New York Times bestselling rom-com by Lana Harper."

  • Slewfoot: A Tale of Bewitchery by Brom. This is a darker novel for a spooky Halloween feel. "Set in Colonial New England, Slewfoot is a tale of magic and mystery, of triumph and terror as only dark fantasist Brom can tell it."

  • Mary: An Awakening Of Terror by Nat Cassidy. "Best Horror of 2022―Esquire, Paste Magazine, CrimeRead Harper's Bazaar 15 Best Books for Spooky Season The Lineup Best Debut Horror Novels of 2022 American Writers Museum―Staff Recommendation"

  • We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson. "Shirley Jackson's beloved gothic tale of a peculiar girl named Merricat and her family's dark secret, with an afterword by Jonathan Lethem."

Let me know which books you loved the most in the comments! Happy spooky season :)
