  • Take a tour of the Waverly Hill Sanatorium in Louisville, Kentucky. For only $30, Waverly Hills offers a 2-hour tour at 8, 9, and 10 PM on the weekends, and a historical tour during the day! Spend a couple hours investigating this haunted, abandoned asylum.

  • Stay overnight in this haunted inn in Nashville, Indiana. The Story Inn located in Brown County, Indiana is one of the most haunted places in the state. Stay in the Blue Lady Room to possibly encounter a ghost that has been seen by several guests.

  • Take a haunted tour of Mackinac Island. Mackinac Island is incredibly popular during the summer, but a trip during peak fall foliage season along with a haunted tour sounds incredible! Take a guided tour of the island for only $25. Consider making travel plans now, because some October dates are already sold out!


  • Visit the Medieval Torture Museum in Chicago. It's considered the world's largest and most detailed collection of torture devices. It's more than 6000 square feet with over 100 interactive displays. It's spooky, gore-y, and creepy to the max.

  • Visit the Night of 1,000 Jack-O-Lanterns in Chicago this Halloween. Every October, the Chicago Botanic Garden displays more than a thousand hand-carved jack-o-lanterns. Newfields in Indianapolis does a similar display called Harvest Nights!


  • Visit Bobby Mackey's Music World in Wilder, Kentucky. This haunted music venue was made famous by Ghost Adventures, who investigated this place twice and led a public investigation there as well. You can schedule a two-hour tour for $35.

  • Visit the Indiana Medical History Museum, located on the campus of the former Central State Hospital in Indianapolis. Unfortunately, you can't tour the abandoned Central State Hospital, but you can visit this museum that displays equipment, patient records, and research from the hospital.


  • Visit the Mothman Festival in historic Point Pleasant, West Virginia. Every September, the quiet town of Point Pleasant celebrates the cryptid that originated there. Shop at vendors that come from around the country, learn the history behind the cryptid at the Mothman museum, and take a picture next to his statue!

  • Walk the most haunted trail in Ohio to Moonville Tunnel. This rail trail near Athens, Ohio leads to the abandoned mining town of Moonville. This railroad was active between 1851 and the 1940's, and the infamous Moonville Tunnel is one of the only structures left of the town.

  • Spend a night or a weekend at Punderson Manor in Newbury, Ohio. This tudor-style manor is on the list of the most haunted hotels in Ohio, and guests experience activity like doors opening and closing by themselves, and faucets turning off and on. On top of being a haunted attraction, the hotel is located near local hiking, kayaking, golf, and horseback riding destinations!
